The Maryland Club has opened at the Xfinity Center in College Park. It is a contemporary private social club, like a country club with basketball. The club overlooks the arena floor where the University of Maryland basketball teams play their games.
The sophisticated space, bespoke with art and Terps’ memorabilia, and decorating that has hints of the Maryland flag, history, and terrapin turtles — are subtle, yet clever. The designers had purpose to every detail from the wallpaper to the carpet to room dividers. There is a high-end bar stocked with top-shelf liquors and wine, a dining room with gourmet food, lounges, and private rooms for members to work, dine, or unwind. Last night, you could watch the Opening Night of the Maryland men’s basketball season as freshman Derik Queen debuted, making history, in a huge Terps’ win.
The University of Maryland created a partnership with global premium experiences company, Legends, and they will run all premium seating at the Xfinity Center. The Maryland Club is an all-inclusive premium club on basketball game days with an unparalleled view of the main court.
“The opening of the Maryland Club is a centerpiece of Maryland Athletics reimagining the Terrapin fan and alumni experience. Our partnership with Legends demonstrates a major investment to our fanbase, and I can’t wait for them to come out to join us at the Maryland Club for a night they will never forget while cheering on their Terps.”
— said Damon Evans, Director of Athletics for the University of Maryland
On non-gamedays, the Maryland Club will serve as an exclusive private social club, and also can be as simple as a workspace within the private rooms. With WiFi and plenty of table space, this might be better than your office. Also, the club will have reserved parking spaces for its members.
With the expanded Big-Ten conference, Maryland will play teams from the West Coast now, and the new footprint of the Terps’ opponents will give members an opportunity to see and entertain family, friends, and clients as their guests with interests in other opponents. This can open up unique business opportunities for one-of-a-kind experiences.
What country club can give you all of that? And if you really do want to couple a day with golf like a traditional country club, that can be arranged around the corner at the University of Maryland golf course!
Maryland Athletics also announced the creation of a new Club Seating section, just steps from the main court behind the northside basketball hoop. This new 200-seat section will come with exclusive access to the Maryland Club, in-seat food and beverage service, high-back padded chairs with side tables, and commanding views of Maryland men’s and women’s Basketball games.
