
The №25 ranked Maryland Terrapins trailed Iowa by 4 points at the half by a score of 51-47. Maryland came out of the half, and went on an explosive run outscoring Iowa 41-19 to open the second half with freshman Derek Queen leading the charge.
In fact Queen was held to just 4-points in the first half, and then went wild with 14-of-his-18 points coming in that second half. Maryland went on to win it 101-75 to improve to 20-6 overall and 10-5 B1G.
Ja’kobi Gillespie was the high scorer for Maryland with 26 points with Queen and Rodney Rice with 18 each. Maryland was 12-26 beyond the arc for 3-point shots. Both Queen and Julian Reese finished with double-doubles in this one.
Maryland is averaging 83.3 points per game and are outscoring opponents by 16.4 points per game. The bulk of Maryland’s offense has been bolstered by fast starts, but this game showed how the Terps can also explode in the second half.
